With this project, linked to her Bachelor's thesis, Paula combined her two specialties and composed 18 preparatory studies with gradually increasing difficulty for solo oboe. Each piece is based on the musical application of extended techniques such as frullato, timbre fingering, sing and play simultaneously and circular breathing, among others.
These studies are complemented by two chamber works for oboe and piano: Acuarela sobre un trigal and Nebulosa jade, calma, which allow the practice of extended techniques in a more complex musical context from a conceptual and interpretative point of view. This project has an educational propose: to bring new music and techniques to the younger generations of oboists in Cuba.

This is the first of two chamber music works inspired by paintings of the Filipino-Spanish painter Fernando Zóbel: “Jardín seco” (1969) and “Pequeña primavera para Claudio Monteverdi” (1966). The composer aims to recreate the atmosphere they suggest, the color palette and its different densities, as well as translate structural and characteristic elements of the strokes and spatial order of the elements that make them up to music. However, the works are not intended to be purely descriptive, as the music maintains a high level of abstraction.
Performed by: Paula Piñeiro, oboe/Daniela Rodríguez, piano.
Recorded with ADC Produktions in PM Records, Havana, Cuba, 2023.

First performance as part of the International Summer Academy 2023 of the University of Music and Performing Arts of Vienna.
This piece is based on the image of clouds: their lights and shadows, their movement and stillness, the sensation of peacefulness that comes from experiencing a landscape that resembles Heaven. But it also develops into a passing storm, as a reflection on hard moments in life that every human being has experienced and how it always have a resolution, when it comes the feeling of a void, of eternal rest.
